Said Suniel Shetty: “We don’t want the real Sattarbhai to come into the picture until Sanju baba’s fictional avatar is properly unveiled to the public.”
Sanjay Dutt met, interacted with and studied the real-life Sattarbhai very closely to get into the skin of the character. And he was glad that he wasn’t playing an underworld gangster yet again.
“This is my most seriously funny and socially relevant character since Munnabhai. And I’m happy to be doing something that doesn’t require me to go into the underworld,” he quipped. As for the real Sattarbhai, he is free to share the thrill of the film unless he suddenly decides to demand a bigger share in the movie’s investments.
This isn’t the first time this question has cropped up. When Preity Zinta played a real-life battered wife in Deepa Mehta’s “Heaven On Earth”, the woman who inspired the character suddenly came forward to demand a huge amount of money.“She demanded an obscenely astronomical sum of money that really put Deepa Mehta off,” a member of the “Heaven On Earth” team said. However, producers Ekta and Suniel seem pretty sure their real character won’t suddenly demand his pound of flesh.
“He’s more than happy to be a role model for a character that Sanju baba is playing. We’ll include him in the promotional events of ‘EMI’ very soon,” said Suniel. There’s also the debate of “EMI” sharing its title with the international music label. Any copyright hassles on the anvil?"But we’ve registered our title. And EMI is accepted bank jargon, short for Equated Monthly Instalments. If EMI is a music company, then we’re glad to be keeping such musical company,” Suniel joked.
In this film Sanjay will be featured along with Arjun Rampal and Urmilla Matandokar . This film will be directed by Saurabh Kabra & will be produced by Suniel Shetty . It is said that Sunil was very much sure that this role, which is offered to sanju, is made for him and sanjay will be apt for these types of roles. It is also known that sanjay is like a elder brother to suniel shetty and suniel always takes his blessings and his advice before investing in any film. Suniel was reportedly very happy that sanjay is back and is resuming his shooting schedule from a horrified court case.In this film sanjay will be donning the role of Sattar bhai who is a recovery agent of a reputed bank. But the negative factor of Sattar bhai is that he is a gem at heart and is very soft cornered for the loan seekers. This film is said to feature Arjun Rampal in a interesting role which he did not do till date.Sanjay dutt will be shooting for EMI for one month and then he will go for the com-pletion of his characters in the film’s Alibaug and Kidnap.
Sanjay dutt before going for his first take cleared all the rumors about his break up with sanjay guta. He confirmed that though he and sanjay gupta are not associated anymore in their business, but will continue their friendship lifelong.
"Sanju Sir's character is modeled on a real-life agent. In fact, the whole film's plot about all these debt collectors who have the thankless jobs of getting bank loans back from debtors was inspired by the real-life Sattarbhai."The real-life character's identity is being kept a secret for a very definite purpose. Says Sunil Shetty, "We don't want the real Sattarbhai to come into the picture until Sanju Baba's fictional avatar is properly unveiled to the public."
Also, there's the question of copyrights. Would the real Sattarbhai suddenly stand up and claim money for his character being cannibalized? This isn't the first time this question has cropped up. Recently, when Preity Zinta played a real-life battered wife in Heaven On Earth, the woman who inspired the character suddenly came forward to demand what sounded like ransom money."She demanded an obscenely astronomical sum of money that really put Deepa Mehta off," says a member of the Heaven On Earth team. However, producers Ekta Kapoor and Sunil Shetty and Sanjay Dutt who plays Sattarbhai seem pretty sure the real character won't suddenly demand his pound of flesh.

As for the real Sattarbhai, he is free to share the thrill of the film, unless he suddenly decides to become a party-pooper desirous of a bigger share in the film's investments than he deserves. Another copyright puzzle for EMI. The title is also the acronym for the world's oldest music label."But we've registered our title. And EMI is accepted bank jargon, short for easy monthly installments.
If EMI is a music company then we're glad to be keeping such musical company," jokes Sunil.
