EMI Sanjay Dutt

Mumbai, Sep 28 (IANS) Sanjay Dutt plays ‘Sattarbhai’, a bully who collects loan instalments from bank debtors, in his forthcoming film “EMI”. The character has been inspired by a real-life collecting agent and the Bollywood actor spent a lot of time with him to get his act right.”Sanju sir’s character is modelled on a real-life agent. In fact, the whole film’s plot about all these debt collectors who have the thankless job of getting bank loans back from debtors was inspired by the real-life Sattarbhai,” said TV tsarina Ekta Kapoor, who is co-producing the film with Suniel Shetty. The real-life character’s identity is, however, being kept a secret right now.

Said Suniel Shetty: “We don’t want the real Sattarbhai to come into the picture until Sanju baba’s fictional avatar is properly unveiled to the public.”

Sanjay Dutt met, interacted with and studied the real-life Sattarbhai very closely to get into the skin of the character. And he was glad that he wasn’t playing an underworld gangster yet again.

“This is my most seriously funny and socially relevant character since Munnabhai. And I’m happy to be doing something that doesn’t require me to go into the underworld,” he quipped. As for the real Sattarbhai, he is free to share the thrill of the film unless he suddenly decides to demand a bigger share in the movie’s investments.

This isn’t the first time this question has cropped up. When Preity Zinta played a real-life battered wife in Deepa Mehta’s “Heaven On Earth”, the woman who inspired the character suddenly came forward to demand a huge amount of money.“She demanded an obscenely astronomical sum of money that really put Deepa Mehta off,” a member of the “Heaven On Earth” team said. However, producers Ekta and Suniel seem pretty sure their real character won’t suddenly demand his pound of flesh.

“He’s more than happy to be a role model for a character that Sanju baba is playing. We’ll include him in the promotional events of ‘EMI’ very soon,” said Suniel. There’s also the debate of “EMI” sharing its title with the international music label. Any copyright hassles on the anvil?"But we’ve registered our title. And EMI is accepted bank jargon, short for Equated Monthly Instalments. If EMI is a music company, then we’re glad to be keeping such musical company,” Suniel joked.

In this film Sanjay will be featured along with Arjun Rampal and Urmilla Matandokar . This film will be directed by Saurabh Kabra & will be produced by Suniel Shetty . It is said that Sunil was very much sure that this role, which is offered to sanju, is made for him and sanjay will be apt for these types of roles. It is also known that sanjay is like a elder brother to suniel shetty and suniel always takes his blessings and his advice before investing in any film. Suniel was reportedly very happy that sanjay is back and is resuming his shooting schedule from a horrified court case.

In this film sanjay will be donning the role of Sattar bhai who is a recovery agent of a reputed bank. But the negative factor of Sattar bhai is that he is a gem at heart and is very soft cornered for the loan seekers. This film is said to feature Arjun Rampal in a interesting role which he did not do till date.Sanjay dutt will be shooting for EMI for one month and then he will go for the com-pletion of his characters in the film’s Alibaug and Kidnap.

Sanjay dutt before going for his first take cleared all the rumors about his break up with sanjay guta. He confirmed that though he and sanjay gupta are not associated anymore in their business, but will continue their friendship lifelong.

"Sanju Sir's character is modeled on a real-life agent. In fact, the whole film's plot about all these debt collectors who have the thankless jobs of getting bank loans back from debtors was inspired by the real-life Sattarbhai."The real-life character's identity is being kept a secret for a very definite purpose. Says Sunil Shetty, "We don't want the real Sattarbhai to come into the picture until Sanju Baba's fictional avatar is properly unveiled to the public."

Also, there's the question of copyrights. Would the real Sattarbhai suddenly stand up and claim money for his character being cannibalized? This isn't the first time this question has cropped up. Recently, when Preity Zinta played a real-life battered wife in Heaven On Earth, the woman who inspired the character suddenly came forward to demand what sounded like ransom money."She demanded an obscenely astronomical sum of money that really put Deepa Mehta off," says a member of the Heaven On Earth team. However, producers Ekta Kapoor and Sunil Shetty and Sanjay Dutt who plays Sattarbhai seem pretty sure the real character won't suddenly demand his pound of flesh.

"He's more than happy to be a role model for a character that Sanju Baba is playing. We'll include him in the promotional events of EMI very soon," says Sunil.Sanjay Dutt met, interacted with and studied the real-life Sattarbhai very closely before playing the character. "This is my most seriously funny and socially-relevant character since Munnabhai. And I'm happy to be doing something that doesn't require me to go into the underworld," says Dutt.

As for the real Sattarbhai, he is free to share the thrill of the film, unless he suddenly decides to become a party-pooper desirous of a bigger share in the film's investments than he deserves. Another copyright puzzle for EMI. The title is also the acronym for the world's oldest music label."But we've registered our title. And EMI is accepted bank jargon, short for easy monthly installments.

If EMI is a music company then we're glad to be keeping such musical company," jokes Sunil.

Priyanka Chopra who shot to fame in few years contrary to her other colleagues, who entered filmdom through beauty pageants, seems to have lost her way during the recent past. The girl needed hits to go on top of Bollywood has fallen a victim to do duds like 'God Tussi Great Ho' and 'Chamku'. Her fans wonder how come she chose to play the useless role of the glam school teacher in the Naxalite movie that just failed to deliver. On the other hand, Katrina Kaif has been making hit after hit though she hails from a foreign land is too weak to deliver dialogues in Hindi. Her latest flick 'Singh Is Kinng' opposite Akshay Kumar has had a great success.

Similarly, Kareena Kapoor has been basking in the glory of her 'Jab We Met' opposite Shahid Kapoor and Bipasha having scored in 'Race' and 'Bachna Ae Haseeno'. Deepika Padukone isn't far behind. She is constantly hanging onto beau Ranbir's arm. Alas, Priyanka is left much behind all these girls despite her beauty and acting skill. Yes, you are right. She is banking on her forthcoming movies 'Dostana' opposite Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham, in which she looks stunningly charming in a bikini, as never before. Among her other upcoming movies are 'Drona' starring Abhishek Bachchan besides 'Fashion' opposite Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham. So, she would end the year with great success, it is hoped.

Made In China- (C C 2 C) - Chadni Chowk To China

cADNI cHOWK tO cHINA also known as (Made In China) in English. It looks like Delhi and Chandni Chowk have become a favourite haunting-ground for self-searching explorers of the film industry. Is Akshay Kumar finally getting a dream to come true? For long he has felt that his own success- story has the potential to be made into a movie. And now it looks like he's getting his way. Nikhil Advani's new action-adventure-comedy weirdly entitled Chandni Chowk To China (yup, that's the title which has finally been chosen) has distinct shades of autobiography in its plotting. The film's nimble-footed hero is a cook who goes to China and encounters further adventures. By now it's part of Akshay Kumar's folklore that he served as a cook in Bangkok and earned his way back to Mumbai to make cinematic history. The rasoi-angle isn't the only similarity between the guy from Delhi (Akshay still has his father's family in the Capital) and the hero from Chandni Chowk. Both are also martial-arts practitioners. Also if you look at the film's leading lady Deepika Padukone she's tall, slim and regal looking…like Akshay's wife Twinkle. A coincidence? Akshay has always liked women who are tall and in-charge. One reason why China was chosen for Nikhil's film is to tap Akshay's long-cherished yearning for a full-on martial arts film. Not having done a full action film for over seven years, Akshay has undergone training on a form of martial arts known as Wushu for Nikhil's film. "It's a very intricate art practiced on screen by Jet Li and Jackie Chan. Everyone knows Akshay is a big Jackie Chan fan. This is his chance to get even. Akshay plays a cook who goes to China. But I can't say if Chandni Chowk To China is autobiographical. My writer Sridhar Raghavan (Johnny Gaddar director Sriram's brother) wrote an original screenplay. If he was inspired by Akshay's life he'll know better," laughs Nikhil on his return from China where he was recently finalizing the locations. Chandni Chown To China starts shooting on 22 February in various parts of China including Shanghai. Nikhil wraps up by May. About the corny title, the director laughs, "We earlier called our film Made In China. But we all felt Chandni Chowk To China suits the mood better. We've a song with that title in the film. So why not?"
